Jana Hixson

Jana Hixson is the regional director for U.S. Congressman Bill Flores, overseeing operations in the Central Texas region of the 17th District, which includes McLennan, Falls, Limestone, Freestone and Leon Counties.  She serves as key liaison between the congressman and a number of civic entities. Hixson serves as board member for NeighborWorks Waco, March of Dimes, and Cen-Tex African American Chamber of Commerce. Prior to her work with Flores, she was director of community relations for Baylor University, representing Baylor in the community and oversaw and managed a variety of special events that engage the University and the local community.  Working closely with Baylor’s division of Governmental Relations, Hixson was advisor for the Baylor Ambassadors, helping coordinate student advocacy on legislative matters at the state and federal level. Among her many civic activities, Hixson is an officer in Junior League of Waco. She is also part of the Waco Chamber of Commerce Total Resource Campaign, the Doris Miller Memorial Planning Committee, and is a Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital ambassador. Hixson previously has worked as a director of public affairs and as an attorney/lobbyist in Dallas and Austin. She holds marketing and law degrees from Baylor and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2004
